Job Description
Controllers are responsible for coordinating, administering, and controlling all aspects of financial operations. They provide in depth business advice and report on regulatory requirements related to tax, insurance and other legal entity requirements. Employees in this role develop, review and analyze financial results with comparisons to previous trends and current budgetary goals. They are responsible for directing all aspects of accounting and financial operations in conjunction with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial forecasts. Controllers also participate in the the development of financial accounting systems such that all the above requirements can be accomplished through a systematic and automated process.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will be a subset of the following, grouped into a focus on Accounting or Management Reporting:
  • Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Support the business with pricing and deal structuring, by ensuring profitable pricing and licensing practices while minimizing SPR discounts in compliance with Annual Pricing Playbook, support company channel initiatives and drive more business through the channel.
  • Assist with modifications and compliance to organizational and financial policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Drive various cadences and instill sound business discipline and controls with the following; bi-weekly revenue forecasting, monthly rolling forecast, monthly/quarterly business reviews, quarterly revenue audit testing, recognized revenue/residual review, quarterly SLT business review and monthly GCC meetings to resolve sales compensation queries.
  • Monitor financial activities from recording actual results for revenue, expenses and details such as reserve levels to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.
  • Coordinate and direct the financial forecasting, planning, procurement, and/or investment activities of all or part of an organization.
  • Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
  • Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
  • Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Constantly monitor forecast trends and actual results advising management on short and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions to deliver on commitments.
